Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care

Memory loss comes with unique challenges, and our home memory care services emphasize respect, patience, and understanding in even the most challenging moments. Our caregivers are trained and experienced in assisting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and are equipped to navigate the changes in memory, personality, and behavior that come with it.

  • Memory Care and Cognitive Stimulation
In-home memory care is designed to provide cognitive support for people living with memory loss. Caregivers can engage clients in activities like memory games, puzzles, and storytelling, which can stimulate the brain and help people focus. These interactions can reduce confusion, promote connection, and bring a sense of familiarity and comfort to daily routines.
  • Personal Care and Health Monitoring
Managing personal care can become difficult for those with memory loss. Our caregivers assist with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, always prioritizing dignity and comfort. Our caregivers also assist with managing medications and monitoring overall health to prevent complications and assist their care team in proactively addressing changes.
  • Safety and Wandering Prevention
A safe and secure home environment is critical for clients with memory challenges, as confusion and wandering can increase the risk of accidents. Caregivers conduct home safety evaluations to identify potential hazards, such as clutter or loose rugs, and suggest modifications like secure locks and alarms to keep clients safe.
  • Emotional Support and Behavioral Management
Living with memory loss can bring about emotional changes such as anxiety, agitation, or confusion. Caregivers build meaningful relationships with clients, offering companionship and helping to ease feelings of isolation or frustration. When mood swings or anxiety arise, caregivers use calming techniques to reassure and redirect the client, creating a sense of security and emotional balance.

From helping maintain daily routines to providing reminders for medications, our in-home memory care services help keep your loved one calm and comfortable. We offer families helpful tips and information to better understand dementia care, including how to create a supportive and safe home environment and communicate effectively with loved ones. We can also connect you with resources that will help make home modifications that enhance safety, as well as support groups for any family that may be struggling with watching their loved ones change over time.

Our companion care services provide a warm, caring presence in your loved one’s life. From enjoying a cup of coffee together to sharing a favorite hobby like gardening or playing the piano, to playing cards or putting together a puzzle, our caregivers build meaningful relationships that make each day special. These small moments make a big difference in maintaining a positive outlook and sense of purpose.

Private Duty Nursing for Memory Care Clients

Private duty nursing can be beneficial for individuals with memory loss or coexisting medical conditions. Our nurses ensure medical interventions are handled with sensitivity to the client’s cognitive challenges, allowing them to receive high-quality treatment in the comfort of their home.

Our nursing team is led by our highly qualified Director of Patient Services, Dwiann Morgan, who is licensed and oversees the Directors of Nursing in each state where we operate. Our nurses are experienced professionals who bring compassion and expertise to every client.

They are trained to provide specialized medical support beyond the scope of caregivers, including administering IV injections, wound care, medication management, and g-tube feeding. This level of support is vital for clients recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or requiring close medical supervision.

Whether your loved one requires temporary nursing care following a hospital discharge or simply prefers the peace of mind that a more extensively trained professional can provide, private duty nursing offers a flexible, personalized solution for your needs. Our nurses work closely with physicians and other healthcare providers to create a seamless care experience, so you can rest assured knowing they’re in the best hands.

Flexible care that fits your needs

How it Works

Discuss your in-home memory care needs

Documenting medical needs is the easy part. Where the work comes in is understanding your loved one’s personality, their triggers and limitations, any barriers to potentially accepting care for the first time, and the little things we can add to their lives by way of a caregiver that will put a smile on their face.

Meet our caregivers

You’ll meet several fully vetted caregivers, each with a summary of their skills and experience, activities they enjoy engaging in with clients, personality traits, background and interests, quotes from their reference transcripts, and a photo from their in-person interview. From there, you can interview either in-person or over the phone or video call or simply decide based on their profile.

Memory care services begin

We do our best to keep things simple and find the perfect match for your loved one on our first time around and are encouraged by how often this happens. However, if things are not quite clicking, our client managers will take your feedback and go back to the drawing board for a more fitting solution. Above and beyond is the expectation, not the exception, with peace of mind as the ultimate outcome.

Our In-Home Memory Care Staff

Quality of care starts with our caregivers. Our dedicated team of candidate managers are responsible for proactively vetting new caregivers to ensure we always have the best fit available for your current and future needs.

Running a background check and verifying certifications is the easy part. Where our team adds value is the time spent by reference managers speaking with two or more local families that each applicant worked for long-term, assessing each reference for caliber, skills, validity, enthusiasm, and accuracy. Once past the reference stage, every caregiver comes in for an in-person interview where our candidate managers carefully observe their personality, communication skills, punctuality, focus, flexibility, and demeanor.

Ultimately, the process ends by asking the most important question of all – “Is this someone I would trust in my own home to take care of my own family?” We accept only 5% of caregiver applicants, using a meticulous selection process, and enforce a one-strike policy to maintain our high standards.

With our rigorous vetting process and careful matching, you can be confident that our caregivers are not only highly qualified but also compassionate, reliable, and dedicated to enhancing your loved one’s quality of life.

The LifeWorx Difference

Our commitment to quality begins with our CHAP accreditation and state licensing, ensuring we meet the highest industry standards for safety and care. Unlike corporate or franchised agencies, LifeWorx is privately owned and operated, which grants us the opportunity to work closely with clients and their families to address their unique circumstances with a customized plan. Our rates are straightforward and all-inclusive, with no hidden fees or overtime charges.

Anyone can walk into our ground level offices and speak with our team directly. Our in-office team works together to ensure every decision is focused on delivering the best care for your loved one.

Institutional settings tend to have strict routines, but our services are flexible and designed to fit seamlessly into your loved one’s day-to-day life. Whether they need a companion for a morning walk or a nurse to manage post-surgical care, we can adapt to their preferences and needs.

We understand the importance of trust and consistency in caregiving. Unlike other agencies that shuffle caregivers frequently, we prioritize stability by minimizing caregiver changes and acting only on feedback from you and your family. This means your loved one benefits from a familiar face and a consistent level of care, making every day just a little bit easier.

Our caregivers can adapt to each stage of Alzheimer’s. In the early stages, we focus on maintaining independence and memory support through structured routines and engaging activities. As the disease progresses, we provide hands-on assistance with daily tasks, ensure safety, and offer emotional support. In advanced stages, we focus on comfort, dignity, and full-time personal care, including mobility assistance and hygiene support. Our approach ensures personalized care at every stage.

Alzheimer’s care focuses heavily on managing memory loss and predictable cognitive decline. Each type of dementia requires specialized care based on its progression and challenges.

Effective options include reminiscence therapy, music therapy, art, exercise, cognitive activities, and sensory activities. These approaches improve mood, reduce stress, and engage memory and motor skills.

We partner with a local company to conduct home assessments to provide medical equipment that will make the home safer. Our caregivers are also experienced with spotting potential hazards that could increase fall risk.
