Peace of Mind

3 Minute Watch

In this heartfelt video, three sisters share how LifeWorx has helped their family care for their mother, who is living with Alzheimer’s. They reflect on the journey of finding the right caregiver and the relief that comes with knowing their mom is safe, supported, and surrounded by love. With LifeWorx, their mother can stay at home, maintain her quality of life, and enjoy meaningful time with family in safe and familiar surroundings. Our caregivers have become trusted partners and provide the family with invaluable peace of mind.

Mom and dad loved to travel.

They traveled around the world several times.

All kinds of crazy things that were very worrying to the children, but they were having a ball.

They were a good complement to each other because my mom’s mental failings were taken care of because my dad was sharp as a tack.

So when my dad passed, she lost that compass, that navigator.

Mom’s major issue requiring care is Alzheimer’s.

She needs that constant supervision.

I know for a fact being around family helps her in the long run.

She doesn’t get disoriented; she’s with faces she recognizes. She wouldn’t get that in a nursing home.

So that’s just a family goal, to keep mom home.

I did dread the interview process before we started this because I’ve never had to do this.

I have never had to interview caregivers and you know, give that responsibility over to somebody.

But I have to say the only hard thing about picking someone for my mom through the LifeWorx interviews was trying to pick between two really good people.

I was a nurse at a hospital for 33 years, all the way up to nursing administration as Associate Vice President of the hospital.

It truly is a team; LifeWorx, the caregivers, and the family.

The Monday through Friday caregiver is almost like part of our family.

And she tells us different things that need to be done for mom that we don’t even know because she almost knows her better now.

If the caregivers are spending the time making sure the routine things happen correctly, then you can visit with mom and not have to worry about, you know, “Are her clothes clean?” “Are her meds taken?”

You can actually sit and talk about nice things.

It is comforting, it is a sense of knowing that mom’s being taken care of on a 24/7 basis. And it’s just peace of mind. Peace of mind.
