Home Care Excellence – Stephen A.

3 Minute Read

Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Stephen moved to the United States in 2003. He found his calling in home care just two years later. With a career spanning two decades, he has become a valued member of the LifeWorx team. Stephen is known for his dedication, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond for his clients.

“I’ve worked with many agencies over the years—some in New Jersey, some in Long Island,” but it was LifeWorx that stood out to him. Introduced by a friend, he recalls, “I got to know LifeWorx, and it’s one of the best home care agencies.”

For Stephen, caregiving offers a lot more than a routine. “You meet a lot of people, and you learn from them,” he explained. Stephen describes himself as a compassionate person who treats every client as family. This ability to connect with each client and treat them with the utmost respect is what sets him apart, turning a job into something much more personal.

Stephen brings a unique approach to each client, recognizing that no two days are the same. “You can have somebody with Alzheimer’s, you can have somebody who had a stroke, you can have somebody who is bedridden,” he noted. “Every case you are assigned to, you have to adjust yourself to that job.” By staying flexible and always being ready to adapt, Stephen ensures that his clients receive care tailored to their needs.

Patience and clear communication are key elements of Stephen’s approach to caregiving. He believes in always keeping clients informed, saying, “You have to tell them, ‘I’m going to help you take your shower,’ or ‘I’m going to shave you.’ Don’t take them by surprise. Be polite, be respectful.” This careful attention to detail helps build trust and makes clients feel comfortable and secure in his care.

“The most important thing is patience. You have to be extra, extra patient and work with the person, no matter the situation.”

– Stephen A, LifeWorx Caregiver

Having worked in various roles, from Uber driving to security, Stephen understands the importance of finding work that is fulfilling. “I’ve worked all sorts of jobs before home care. I think this is the profession that is good for me because I’ve learned a lot of lessons from it”. As he continues his journey with LifeWorx, Stephen remains committed to delivering care that’s attentive, compassionate, and respectful. “I always want to raise the bar high for LifeWorx wherever I go,” he shared, highlighting his pride in representing the agency.

“Stephen has always been held in the highest regard by clients and their families. He always puts the client first, whether it’s adjusting his schedule or even traveling with them to ensure continuity of care. There is no task too big or too small for him.”

Frank DiMaggio, Vice President of Operations

Stephen exemplifies many of the values that LifeWorx seeks in every caregiver – compassion, patience, adaptability, and a commitment to always putting clients first. His work is a reminder that exceptional care is not just about meeting needs, but about building connections and treating every client with the respect they deserve.
