Home Care Excellence – Rose G.

3 Minute Read

To Rose, caregiving is more than a list of tasks to be completed. It’s about making connections, offering comfort, and providing support in moments of vulnerability. For over a decade, Rose has worked with HIV patients, but her connection to the elderly shines bright. This connection extends beyond the professional; it’s personal.

Rose’s clients aren’t just clients – they’re friends, even family. “I enjoy the company of the elderly,” she says. She understands that to care for someone, especially in their later years, you need a special kind of empathy. Flexibility and communication are also integral aspects of Rose’s caregiving philosophy. She understands each client is different, and a successful caregiver must be able to adapt to unique situations. “You cannot be a caregiver and be uptight. You have to learn how to be like a basketball because they could bounce you all over,” she advises.

“Sometimes you become a family member to them because you have to be very compassionate.”

Rose G.

Rose spoke about the bond she has formed with a 96-year-old client who gets confused often. “When I get there, I just say ‘Hey friend, how was your day?’ We hug and talk like two friends.” Her client’s comfort in leaning on Rose, both physically and emotionally, highlights the bond they share. An excellent example of Rose’s dedication involves encouraging her client to eat. “She doesn’t like to eat,” Rose shared. So, she joins her client for meals, making it shared experience, “I carry my lunch with me. I say we’re going to eat together.” By making mealtime a shared experience, Rose not only ensures her client is nourished but also creates a moment of companionship that brightens her day.

To Rose, her clients aren’t just recipients of care – they’re people who deserve dignity and respect. “Talk to the client; they’re not mannequins,” she shares. Her approach is grounded in empathy and connection, and it sets a high bar for caregiving. Rose’s experience is a reminder that at the heart of caregiving is human connection, and it’s this connection that makes all the difference.

“She’s wonderful. Rose is very helpful; she always goes out of her way. She’s very caring.”

Ira H, LifeWorx Client

Rose also sees herself as an important link in the chain of care, where her actions reflect on LifeWorx as a whole. She believes in collective responsibility: “it’s not my job, it’s not your job. it’s our job.” She emphasizes that every caregiver represents LifeWorx, and one misstep can impact everyone. This shared accountability drives her to uphold the highest standard of care.

Rose is so great! She is always willing to help, flexible, and communicative. She has worked with multiple clients of ours and we always receive positive feedback. She is a hard worker and always willing to help out.
