Home Care Excellence – Glenda T.
Glenda’s path into caregiving didn’t begin with a plan. She grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut, and spent her early career working regular hours behind a desk as a secretary. But everything changed when her uncle became ill. Glenda stepped in to care for him, supporting him through the end of his life.
Not long after his passing, her mother’s health started to decline. Once again, Glenda found herself caring for a loved one. While this level of responsibility could have been overwhelming for many, she found a sense of meaning in the work. By 1987, she had taken the steps to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, formalizing what had become second nature. Since then, she’s cared for dozens of seniors, always leading with empathy, respect, and patience.
“I love working with older adults. I love making them happy. I love making them feel safe in their own home.”
Glenda T., LifeWorx Caregiver
Her work has never been about just completing tasks. Yes, she prepares meals, assists with mobility, and makes sure medications are managed properly. But she also takes the time to learn what her clients like and respects their routines. Some clients are particular about how their meals are prepared, others enjoy going on daily walks, while many just want someone to sit and chat with.
She speaks fondly of a longtime client who loved the ocean. Every day, Glenda would take her to the beach, and they would walk and talk together. Their outings quickly became about more than just getting some exercise and fresh air. They were a chance to share stories about their family and the past. The woman would tell stories about her grandchildren, and Glenda shared some of her favorite memories in return. These moments of connection help Glenda truly understand her clients, allowing her to provide care that feels more personal than clinical.
“Glenda has been working with LifeWorx for a long time and has quickly become a favorite in Connecticut. She is extremely dependable, competent, and so sweet. Our clients always give me the same positive feedback about her. She makes my role so much easier, and I tell her that often!”
Kim Atherton, Candidate Relations Manager
Glenda believes every caregiver should be compassionate, empathetic, and dependable. In her nearly forty years of experience, she’s found that the foundation of caregiving is about building trust, offering reassurance, and making sure people feel safe in their own homes.
